How do I add tags to contacts?

Contact tags are the best way to achieve better Customer Relationship Management (CRM). Tags are labels used for contact organization. Benefits of contact tagging

  1. Improved management of contacts
  2. Better segmentation by classifying customers into different segments, e.g. frequent-buyer, VIP, etc
  3. Improved email delivery rate by directing emails to a specific audience segment based on tags  

Checklist for creating tags in Conversions

  • Tags can contain letters (a-z and A-Z), numbers (0-9), and hyphen (-)
  • Tags cannot contain space, an ampersand (&), equals sign (=), underscore (_), apostrophe ('), dash (-), plus sign (+), comma (,), brackets (<,>), or period (.)

Create tags

  1. Go to Contacts > Select a contact to add tag > Edit tags
  2. Add tag name (e.g. frequent-buyer). Click on “Create” once you have entered the tag name
  3. Save changes 

Add an existing tag to contacts

  1. Go to Contacts > Select contact to add tag(s) > Edit tags
  2. Select an existing tag > Save changes

Remove tags

  1. Go to Contacts > Select contact to remove tag(s) > Edit tags
  2. Click on the “X” icon beside the tag you wish to remove > Save changes

Segment newsletters based on tags

  1. Go to Newsletters > Select the type of emails to add tag filters > Edit settings
  2. Go to “Send to” section under the Settings tab > Custom segment > Edit filters
  3. Click on Add filter > Tags
  4. Select tag (s) > Save changes
